Carol's Update 09/09/13

My dear friends,
How’s your summer? In Taipei, it’s hot. The highest temperature is 39.3°C, breaking the record of the past 100 years. Thus, one of my jobs this summer is to find cooler places for family trips.
My family and I have well settled down in our new house. Daria, Li-chin, Irene, Lydia and some Taiwanese friends from Lancaster came to visit us, and we had lovely gatherings. Yesterday, I met Ai-I up on the road. She would like to visit my church in Oct. Hope she’ll embrace God’s love again.
Last month, I had a short-term mission in China. With friends from our church, including 7 teenagers who had prepared for the camp for at least 6 months, we led the summer camp of 45 kids. The local kids are adorable though some of them or their families had difficult time because of the 2008 Sichuan earthquake. Having simple and thirsty hearts, they accepted the good news quickly. We pray that the seeds will sprout and grow fast. To glorify our God, the teenagers did well. They cared and treated the kids like their little brothers and sisters. Facing the incomplete administrative work, they didn't complain but tried their best to support us. I’m proud of being their counselor.
In early Aug., I passed my yearly check-up although I need to do another bone scan in December to make sure that the shade in my right ankle and the 6th rib is not a big deal. (The shade is very likely caused by my last falling down on stairs in April.) It doesn't bother me because I have confidence in our Father, so my sister and I will visit London from 5th to 7th Nov. and Lancaster from 7th to 16th Nov. We were wondering about the possibility of meeting up with you. As I’ll stay in Lancaster for about only 9 days, may I know if 9th Nov has the event of International Cafe or the outing of Friends International? And Sue, do you have time to go hiking in the Lakes with us? Anyway, I do hope it is possible to meet with you.

Lots of love,
Carol
